General

  • Whilst you can order 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 bottle cases, you should bear in mind that the more bottles in a case (1 case=12 bottles max.) the price/bottle delivery cost drops.

We can take small orders up to a maximum of 3 bottles. These would be in a special 1, 2 or 3 bottle boxes. This is not a gift box, but special packaging required by the courier companies, and this extra cost is reflected in the delivery charge which is the normal rate for case + packaging.   • Select your wines and then go to "View Your Cart". This will take you to the Wine Basket page.
  • Check to see your quantities or wine selection are correct - if not just make the changes and press enter or the Update button.
  • If you want to change a wine then re-visit the Metaxas Wine Estate Wines on the menu bar and select from the wines.
  • Select the Shipping Method & Destination. The delivery charge will show up in the Shipping Total column on the right hand side.

Wine Basket Small Order1 FAQ’s

If you do add more than 3 bottles a report will show telling you to check your order. Just make sure the bottle total is not more than the maximum of 3 bottles per Small Order.

Wine Basket over 3 bottles FAQ’s

Carry on to Checkout via the Paypal button. You will then be taken to a safe secure ordering page. Please make sure to give your telephone number. We cannot process an order without this. It is required by the courier companies for delivery contact purposes

We have sent wines to other countires using International Carrier companies.There are restrictions in certain countries and no two enquiries are ever the same. Please send us a message via our Contact Us form giving us tyour delivery address and postcode.

We will then get a delivery quotation and get back to you with details.

As the delivery rate is a set rate per case based on weight, it is the same cost for 6 or 12 bottles. Therefore it is more economic to order a 12 bottle case!

Make your wine selection in the usual way, but when through to the Paypal payment page you should add the name and address of recipient to the Ship-to address, even though the buyer's name and address section is different. If you have any special instructions regarding such orders then contact us.

Unfortunately, our shopping cart software at the moment cannot add shipping for small orders and standard case orders at the same time.

So for the time being you would have to submit two orders.

Our online wine order process can be utilized by any customer - private or trade. Please send us a message via our contact form prior to ordering, giving us your company details, VAT no. invoice requirements etc.

How to use the Online Wine Shop - Wine Basket

On the menu bar you can either press on the "You have 4 items in your cart" or "View Your Cart" this will take you to the Wine Basket page.

  • Check to see your quantities or wine selection are correct - if not just make the changes and press enter or the Update button.
  • If you want to add a wine re-visit the Metaxas Wine Estate Wines on the menu bar and select from the wines.
  • Remember that case orders are a minimum of 6 bottles and cases thereafter in multiples of  6 -  i.e. 6, 12, 18, 24 etc.

Wine Basket per Case FAQ’s

  • You have to select the Shipping Method & Destination. The Delivery charge will show up in the Shipping Total column. The amount will be added when there are 6 bottles in the basket. So if you do not see a Shipping Total, check that your total bottles add up to at least  6 bottles (min required for a case order). The same rate applies up to 12 bottles.
  • When ordering a second case the shipping will be added automatically. Again your order should be in 6 bottle dominations i.e. 6, 12, 18, 24 etc.

Wine Home Delivery

The wines of the Metaxas Wine Estate from Kefalonia are stored at Vinotheque, a specialized bonded wine warehouse, in the heart of the Midlands, at Derby Road, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, UK.

There, your Metaxas Wine Estate wines are packed and prepared for delivery and then dispatched via Vinotheque's very own Wine Home Delivery service or similar service operated by a National Carrier.

In addition to delivery time, we may need up to 2 working days for us to process your orders. We need this time to check a few things: availability, delivery instructions etc. So allow up to 4-5 working days from the time you place your order to receiving your wines (longer for Highlands & Islands), although usually the wines are delivered sooner.

  • Delivery is within 3-5 working days of your order being placed. You should allow a few extra days for delivery to offshore islands, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and some other areas of Scotland**

  • Yes, if you live in the immediate area, you can pick up your wine orders from Vinotheque with NO delivery charges!

Vinotheque Direct FAQ’s

  • On the section Instructions to Merchant/Buyer on the payment page please state the day/date and time to want to pick up your wines.

  • We deliver to any postcode in the UK except for the Channel Islands. Unfortunately we are not able to deliver to Hospitals or BFPO Addresses.

  • The drivers will follow the instructions you gave on placing order
  • They can leave with a nominated neighbour as per your instructions
  • If there is nowhere safe to leave the wines, then the driver will leave a card with instructions on what to do to re-arrange delivery.

Unfortunately on occasion, damages do happen, although the utmost care is taken throughout the entire process of getting your wines to you. If your wine order is damaged in anyway, then send us a message via our Contact Us form and we will sort it out for you.

Ideally someone should be home and the driver should attempt to get a signature. Many customers give us instructions to leave their wines in a specific safe place such as garage, behind rubbish bins, back porch etc. There is always the risk of it being stolen, but experience has shown this is very rare. It is always preferable that you receive and sign for the wines being delivered.

Shipping Costs


Yes, as you add bottles to your wine basket the standard delivery cost per case to UK Postcodes is added. It detects the number of bottles (multiples of 12), and will update consecutive boxes automatically.

However if you live out of these areas, or are going to collect from Vinotheque directly, then make sure to select from the the Shipping Method & Shipping Destination boxes below, the charge that applies to you.

Payment Methods

We do not directly accept credit cards. We use Paypal for all our  payments. With Paypal you can either opt to use your own personal Paypal account, or you can pay with your credit card.

As we are not processing the payment transaction ourselves, we never get to see your credit card details, so none of this information is stored on our site/server.

Paypal is the world's most popular "middleman" service for online purchasing.

What is PayPal and how does it work? Don't worry; you don't need to have an account with them to pay for your wines.

When you proceed to checkout you will be taken to a PayPal secure payment page. The whole payment transaction is made via their secure website.

On the payment checkout page, you are given the option to either pay through your Paypal account if you have one, or with your VISA or MASTERCARD credit card. As we are not processing the payment transaction ourselves, we never get to see your credit card details, so none of this information is stored on our site/server.

Note:
Your payment receipt will say that a charge to your credit card or PayPal account was made by Greek Wines & Food Company.

Refunds, Cancellations & Breakages

Within the order processing time we allow you up to 2 days in case you want to change your order or cancel for any reason whatsoever. We will refund your credit card or Paypal account. Please send us a messsage through the Contact Us form, stating in the subject line 'cancellation'.

  • The breakage rate is very low. In the event that any bottle(s) of wine from the Metaxas Wine Estate from Kefalonia do arrive broken, we will refund the value to your credit card or PayPal account, or hold it on account against further orders or even re-send the order.
  • If your wine arrives damaged we ask that you take a photo of the packaging/case and send us via email. This will help us see where the problem arose. There is a chance that the wines were not packed correctly in a double walled carton for carrier dispatch.
  • Allow up to 14 working days for any refunds to be processed.
  • If you do need to get in touch with us regarding your order, then please send a message via our Contact Us form
